Cross stitches is an art project, dealing with cultural identity. As an Asian immigrant in Sweden, Hiroko approaches her new personality using Hemslöjd (handcraft). Textile fabric is a useful metaphor for life, as we weave ourselves into new contexts. On the border between utility- and symbolic value, there is Swedish traditions and history – mixed with tenderness and love. Hiroko will use this media to tell about otherness and the will to belong.
