KI-TSU-NE

In this performance Tsuchimoto demonstrates the transformation of beauty – shifting between her onstage and offstage persona. The work is a part of an ongoing series, where she explores ancient mythology set in a present day context.
In Japanese folklore, the magic fox – Kitsune – serves as a shape shifting trickster. She is beautiful, yet mysterious and impossible to control. Sometimes Kitsune transforms herself into a woman, and falls in love with a man. However, if confronted with her secret past, Kitsune runs back into the forest and leaves her family behind.
