Growing up is never easy, especially in today’s moratorium of formless identities. A whole generation seems lost - on the way to old age. To hide from her “30 something crisis”, Tsuchimoto builds a fort out of childhood games & songs. Playfulness and frustration takes the stage, as she simply stops her everyday act of adulthood.
“Castle building” problemetizes identity, expectations, childhood and motherhood. It alternates between growing up - and giving up, highlighting the futility of social constructions in a world without grand narratives. The performance was held in upstate New York, in the midst of the suburban American dream.
