Not-Yet-Home Gardening is a project facilitated by Stockholm-based artist duo Hiroko Tsuchimoto and Caio Marques de Oliveira. Their collaborative project aims to connect daily practices with artistic outputs by visualizing and embodying fluid relations to language, community, and soil. Their practices address the construction of otherness and the complexities of linguistic competence, not only in additional languages but also in mother tongues. The artists create participatory sessions with local residents in Fisksätra to share the experiences of relocation, migration, and displacement and the fragile nature of belonging. The project also incorporates soil as a non-human actor/mediator in the museum space, which nurtures a wider sense of belonging, growing, and living together in the world: Gardening. During 2023 and 2024, these gatherings took shape through soup and kombucha sessions to collect compost and exchange plants, a dream garden workshop, and compost dyeing for aprons, alongside guest-led workshops by people with connections to Fisksätra: Nijat Hushur's Tügre workshop 'Hemma långt hemfrån' (May 2024) and Camilla Landvik's walking with stick, 'Träd-Trädning-Att Träda', with music by Danel Estrada (June 2024).
